Mattawan - 7 Kalamazoo Blades - 3 (Final)

On a night that saw this Bloggers prediciton to come true with the Portage Northern upset of Portage Central the Kalamazoo Blades would accomplish this improbable albeit in a loss.

After a 1st period that saw Mattawan and Austin Pence completely dominate the ice on both end and come out of the period with a 3-0 lead the Kalamazoo Blades, as they always do, came out in the second period and made a game of it.

At 11:02 of the 2nd period Mattawan's Travis Mitchell would make it a 4 goal bulge and it looked like the Blades were in deep trouble. The Blades came roaring back about 3 minutes later.

Kyle Blankenship won the offensive zone face off and walked around the Mattawan center. Blankenship's wrist shot would clang off of the cross bar and fall dead right behind goalie Anders Helakoski where line mate Mike Spears would bang in the rebound putting the Blades on the board. Then the Patrick McDonald show started. Mcdonald scored 2 nice goals about 3 minutes apart which would lead to a goalie change for Mattawan.

That was it for the Blades however and the Mattawan Wildcats would come out on top 7-3.

This was a better game than anticipated. The only problem was a zebra who couldn't figure out what was a goal, as Mattawan had 2 that he "didn't" see but everyone else did. Blades played well and made a game out out of it. Congrats to Mattawan on a good team effort and a 9-3, I'm mean a 7-3 game!
